A one-of-a-kind free event, DesignRVA is a hands-on community day where children and their families can imagine and build elements of a neighborhood to create Richmond spaces to live, learn, work, and play.

About DesignRVA

A FREE, one-of-a-kind event, DesignRVA introduces children ages 8-14 to the design of our region while informing them about how their voices can be a part of the planning, creation, and improvement of the places where they live, learn, work, and play.

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, join Storefront for Community Design, a nonprofit design center in Richmond, for the second annual DesignRVA event.

Children and families will engage with volunteers from community-based organizations and design professions like architecture, engineering, urban planning, and construction to build elements of their imagined ideal neighborhood.

DesignRVA highlights the community’s critical need in areas of health and wellness, land use, transportation, and housing, to answer the question, “How would YOU design a more equitable and fair greater Richmond?”

Children will take their elements to a designated communal space, evolving throughout the day and building a shared vision of a more equitably built environment for their community.

To guarantee a space as an exhibit host, complete the sign-up form by May 3, 2024. Space is limited. Storefront for Community Design team members will follow up in mid-March with additional information once interactive stations are confirmed.
